I particularly like the ones on which a full bottle of lactulose has been spilt and the patient has picked up the MAR chart just after using a finger-pricking devise to measure blood glucose levels – nice!
New guidance has been issued from the RPSGB on MAR charts – not exciting reading but might come in helpful

If you haven’t seen the BBC Online article on this sad death after brand substitution it’s well worth a look.

Interesting content from the Lancet summit:
The Lancet Health of the Nation Summit took place at the Royal College of Physicians on February 5-6, 2009. Feedback received from those who attended indicate that the event was a great success.
Comic Relief
As we have moved to a new corporate red and charcoal colour for our website I thought it would be apt for us to raise money on Red Nose Day for Comic Relief. Our initial aim is to raise £100 from our locums. However, we will make a commitment to match the amount our locums raise up to a maximum of £250
Comic relief is a fantastic charity raising money for good causes in the UK and Africa. It’s also not a bad evening on the box so go on, contribute to the cause, feel good about yourself and have a great night all at once!
We have our very own “giving page” which can be found using the link below from which you can donate and we will also be advertising the fact we are raising money via the PJ and C+D.

What should you contribute? Whatever you like large or small. Some locums have suggested donating 10% of their earning on the day (13th March), some have said they will donate £5 or £10 and one person even suggested getting dressed up for the day as Superman and asking customers to donate (I’m pretty sure this was a personal fantasy and he sees RND as an opportunity to live his dreams!)
So, please help us raise some money for a good cause and show that Friday 13th March can be lucky for some!
In 2008 we carried out a survey of over 200 locums to find out what hourly rates they we achieving for locum work they carry out. This survey aims to find out the picture in recession hit 2009 and will hopefully find out if pharmacy locums have been affected as much as other businesses.
Results will be published in April 2009 and aim to show:
1. The range of rates being obtained
2. The average rate
3. The results in comparison to 2008
