Swine Flu

After the initial media frenzy, all seems to have gone quiet on the Swine flu front. However when you look at the data, it looks like the incidence of confirmed cases is accelerating. The BBC reported today that globally 10,000 cases have now been reported with some really acute increases – 79 confirmed in Japan over the weekend.

Locum Pharmacists need to be aware of the symptoms of swine flu, especially in holiday makers returning from Mexico and the southern states of USA.

Boots – What went wrong?

Until 2004, I  work for Boots. Every year the company made huge profits – £4-600 million as I remember. Therefore I was absolutely amazed via the BBC website to hear that Alliance Boots have just released their figures and that they have made “only” £13 million in the last year. What went wrong or is this the result of the £11 billion debt they’ve had to manage?

After all, I know i was good but………

RPSGB decide not to take disciplinary action against Elizabeth Lee

The Society have decided no to take disciplinary action against Elizabeth Lee, The unfortunate locum pharmacists at the centre of the recent dispensing error case.

The have allowed Elizabeth to voluntarily resign from the register prior to any disciplinary action being taken.

(It may come as a suprise that pharmacists can be stopped from resigning if they have disciplinary procedures ongoing against them)

I actually managed to make it in to the office for the first time since i broke my leg. Linda and Lynne have done a fantastic job of things while I’ve been away – I’m a very lucky pharmacy locum agency owner!
