Sorry for the lack of posts recently. I’m helping out a prison who have been left without a pharmacist after their pharmacy manager went off sick with stress. It’s a typical story of non-pharmacists not understanding the pressures pharmacists are put unde by increased work load and more importantly, increases paperwork required by PCT’s. i have no problem with the people who work for PCT’s, on the whole they are trying to do their best, it’s the culture and constant state of flux that means that they will never achieve their goals…. before the next re-organisation/name change/merger!
Normal service will be resumed soon….promise.
PL-UK – for all the best locum pharmacists/managing directors!

i know just how you feel. I have just finished four days with a prison.
PCT people covering their backs and insisting on repeated paperwork trails. Locum Doctors refusing to extend treatments beyond review dates. Nurses demanding medication without covering prescriptions. PCT pharmacists issuing blanket letters for continuation of medication “If you consider it in the patient’s best interests”. Justice department officials baulking at the costs of medication. I could go on…
Still I will plod on and muse over how this will all effect me when I carry the can as the responsible Pharmacist in eleven days time.
Good luck, Michael
