I have noticed the same. There seem to be more locums around or more willing to work at lower rates perhaps because of the recession. What I have therefore done is to make myself available only on the day and I then charge for the full day @ min £30/hr. I am finding I am still able to gross an average of nearly £300 with less hours and on average am getting 3-4 days/week, which suits me. There have been exceptions where I have got even more. One booking recently grossed over £400 on normal hours but this is unusual and they were desperate.

I have found that this year company's are very reluctant to pay higher rates (i.e. above £25) and obtaining travel time has become near impossible. Also experienced that there isn't a great deal of work out there this summer compared to last year. Has anyone else experienced this?
