As we did in 2008 and 2009 PL-UK are inviting locum pharmacists to complete a locum pay rate survey. The survey is open to all active locum pharmacists and is super-quick to complete with only three questions and results to-date visable on completion of the survey.

2010 LOCUM PHARMACIST PAY RATE SURVEY
Monday, August 9th, 2010PCT Prescribing advisors needed!
Wednesday, July 14th, 2010Monday’s announcement about the closure of PCT’s and SHA’s have send shockwaves through the 150 PCT’s.
Although this is, on the surface, bad news for the prescribing advisors employed by the PCT’s, I think it is also a fantastic opportunity for these highly skilled pharmacists and I would like to speak to as many of them as possible.
So if you are effected by the changes, or know someone who is, please call me on 0800 881 8844 to discuss the opportunities available.
Newly registered pharmacists
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010New Registrations – the end of the month will see an influx of pharmacists onto the RPSGB register and PL-UK are here to help all the one’s who are looking to locum post-registration. PL-UK know how to look after newly qualifieds as Shaun has been one himself (although a while ago now!) and the last seven years has enabled us to build up expertise in supporting pharmacists who are new to the register. We won’t throw you in the deep end, we’ll make sure you work in branches with good support, who pay on time and who we would be happy to work with ourselves.
To talk to a member of the PL-UK prior to getting your RPSGB registration number please call 0800 8818844 from a land line or 0333 123 3344 from a mobile and ask to speak to Linda or Lynne
Locum Pharmacist raising money for a good cause
Monday, June 14th, 2010“My name is Faarooq Anwar, for those people who don’t know me I am a Pharmacist based in Leeds, I am 30 years old (apparently over the hill according to my other half…) and I am wanting to do something to give back to those who cannot do the things that myself and most other people take for granted everyday. So here I am
I am hoping to raise £3000 for the charity REGAIN (charity that raises funds to support people paralysed in sporting accidents). This involves a 400km bike ride from the Taj Mahal at Agra to Jaipur, over five days. This bike ride will involve able-bodied cyclists and tetraplegic hand cyclists. There are costs involved in the travel, food etc, but I will be paying these out of my own pocket as I feel it unfair for people who donate to have to bear these costs and so therefore the £3000 I am hoping to raise will solely be going to the charity, and remember the £3000 is a target, I am hoping to raise as much money as possible so please pass the message on.”
Results of C+D and PDA Union survey 2010
Monday, May 24th, 2010So how does your salary, bonus and condition compare to your peers? The C+D and PDA have carried out a survey this year of over 2000 pharmacists.
Some of the interesting results include:
- A remarkably similar locum rate amongst the multiples. Interesting!.
- A 11% difference in salary for full-time employed men and women.
- Big differences between multiples with reward to bonuses paid.
- 88% of respondents stating that there had been an increase in paperwork in the last year.
For more information click on the links below which will take you to the C+D website (Please note, the results are found in two sections therefore you will need to click on both links below)
I’d be really interested in your comments about the survey
